Martinet decided to step back a bit from voicing the characters to give someone else, Kevin Afghani, a chance to take over. And let me tell you, Afghani’s been doing a pretty great job so far. You might have heard his work in games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder and WarioWare: Move It!
But here’s the thing: it seems like Martinet might be making a comeback in Mario’s next adventure. Recently, some gameplay footage of Mario Vs. Donkey Kong on Switch popped up online, and people are noticing something interesting about the voices. A lot of folks in the YouTube comments are speculating that the voices in the game sound like they’re coming from Martinet himself.
Now, before we get too excited, it’s important to clarify that if this is indeed Martinet’s voice, it’s not new recordings. It’s actually older voice clips being reused. Martinet did provide the voices for the original Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, but this Switch version is using much better quality recordings.
